The Professional Year in ICT
The ACS offers a program for former international students who have graduated from a university within Australia and are seeking permanent residency.
The ACS Professional Year Program in Computing/ICT provides an additional pathway from university to employment within Australia, offering a job-readiness program to equip migrants with the professional skills needed for a successful career in the Australian workforce. The Professional Year program in Computing/ICT is a structured professional development program combining formal learning and workplace experience. The Program runs for a minimum of 44 weeks to a maximum of 52 weeks (or 12 months) and is a job-readiness course.
About the Professional Year Program
The course consists of four modules covering Business Communication skills, Australian Workplace skills, a Professional Element (IT Governance, Ethics and Strategic Business Frameworks), and a Professional Internship (work experience) component.
- 44 -52 weeks practical training, face to face study and workshops
- 12 week hands-on internship with a host company
- access to networking opportunities and professional development as a graduate member of the Australian ICT industry’s professional body
- on successful completion of a Professional Year program specified by the Minister, a participant may be awarded 5 points under the Skilled Occupation List (SOL). Fact sheet about migration points.
